User Group

The London Fields User Group (LFUG) is a volunteer-run community organisation dedicated to the care and enjoyment of London Fields. We bring together local residents, park users, and partner organisations to safeguard the park’s ecology, improve facilities, and encourage respectful and inclusive use of the space. Through practical conservation projects, community events, and advocacy, LFUG works to ensure London Fields remains a welcoming and biodiverse urban green space for current and future generations.

The User Group has a small elected Management Group. This includes a Chair, Deputy Chair, Secretary and Treasurer plus a number of other posts that can be co-opted by the Committee. These posts are elected at the AGM.

For further information about the User Group, its Constitution, minutes of meetings and how to get involved, please see the pages under the User Group section in the header

BioBlitz!

A BioBlitz is a race against time to create a snapshot of the variety of life found in a specific location.
BioBlitzes can be carried out anywhere there is wildlife, including urban areas such as parks, cemeteries and canals.
The records collected during a BioBlitz form part of a genuine scientific survey of the area. Wildlife experts and the wider public work together, within a set amount of time, to find and identify in the area as many species of plants, animals and fungi as possible.
This event will be open to all with experts on site to help with the search, identification and recording.

The Dog Consultation (PSPOs) had mixed outcomes and while some of these were welcome others were more problematic.
Most significant was the failure of the Council to include the wildlife areas and forest classroom in the consultation. We now see serious damage in the Biodiversity area due to off-lead dogs, which we are working to address.

The Litter Pickers are gently resuming operations on a Sunday morning.
We gather just before 10am by the Lido where equipment is available.
We need regular volunteers who can help open up, give equipment out and put it away afterwards.
If you are interested in helping with volunteering please get in touch.

We had our AGM on the 25th April and the minutes are posted here.
A number of key roles including Vice Chair and Secretary weren’t filled and so we are still looking for people taking on these roles.
